100-dagen tot EuroGames: Opname Brabantse potcast groot succes
Op donderdagavond 21 april vond er een live podcast opname in LUX Nijmegen plaats door de dames Anja van Hout en Jolanda van Gool van de Brabantse potcast. In een erg mooi open gesprek ging het onder meer over het belang van EuroGames. Enerzijds betekent het een zo fijn samenzijn, maar anderzijds ook de vrijheid van sporten, wat lang nog niet overal zo vanzelfsprekend is. Pro volleyballer Delano (Vocasa) vertelde over zijn coming out in de kantine en dat dit uiteindelijk erg was meegevallen. Daarnaast deelde Leon Pijls, die ook het sideprogramma wielrennen organiseert, over zijn deelname aan meerdere GayGames en EuroGames en waarom dat zo ontzettend veilig voelde en dat leidde tot het oprichten van een roze wielrengroepje in Nijmegen.
Vervolgens deelde ook de organisatie, van bijvoorbeeld het dansen, het belang van dansstellen van gelijke gender en hoe op veel toernooien en door de dansbond daar niet aan wordt meegewerkt. Ook de wethouder Grete Visser deelde hoe trots ze was dat dit evenement over 100 (inmiddels al minder) dagen plaatsvindt in de oudste stad van Nederland, met een jonge vibe.

On the 100th day EuroGames live recorded the Brabantse-Potcast, and it was an outstanding success
On Thursday evening, April 21, a live podcast recording took place in the LUX Nijmegen. Anja van Hout and Jolanda van Gool of the Brabantse-Potcast, hosted the event. The conversation was open and interesting and the importance of EuroGames, their impact and how they bring people together was highlighted. Delano from VoCASA, a professional volleyball player, talked about his coming-out, his own positive attitude, and his relief when others were too, after all, it turned out to be a real celebration. Leon Pijls, who will organize the cycling side event, shared stories about participating in several GayGames and EuroGames. He talked about and why it felt so incredibly safe and inclusive, and how it all led to the establishment of a pink cycling group in Nijmegen.
The organizing group for the Dance event talked about the importance of same-gender dance couples and how opportunities are not always easy to find. Indeed, many tournaments are simply not supportive. The deputy-mayor Grete Visser spoke of her pride and her enthusiasm at hosting the EuroGames, with its young vibe, in the oldest city of the Netherlands – Nijmegen.
