Son Mieux en Julia Zahra treden op tijdens de EuroGames in Nijmegen
Op woensdagavond 27 juli vindt op de Waalkade de openingsceremonie plaats van de EuroGames 2022, het grootste sportevenement voor de LHBTIQ+ gemeenschap in Europa. Het belooft een spectaculaire avond te worden. Naast de officiële openingshandelingen met korte speeches en een vlaggenparade is er een grote diversiteit aan artiesten die optreden.

We zijn trots dat recente Edison-winnaars Son Mieux komen optreden. Deze zevenkoppige band rond singer/songwriter Camiel Meiresonne brengt complete en dansbare popliedjes boordevol onweerstaanbare hooks en refreinen. Verder biedt deze avond een afwisselende show met kortere optredens van onder meer operazangeres Deirdre Angenent, theater-diva Ellen ten Damme, popzanger Merijn van Haren, dansers en spoken word. DJ St. Paul sluit de avond feestelijk af.
De sluitingsceremonie op zaterdagavond 30 juli vindt ook plaats op de Waalkade. Deze avond speelt Julia Zahra (winnares van The Voice en De Beste Zangers) met haar band. Met haar kenmerkende warme stemgeluid en akoestische gitaar brengt zij gevoelige ballads, swingende pop en ritmische R’n’B. Daarnaast is het heerlijk dansen op de trippy elektro hiphop van Fata Boom en meezingen met een keur aan zangers en zangeressen die het beste uit de popgeschiedenis brengen.

Van 27 tot en met 30 juli 2022 vinden in Nijmegen de EuroGames plaats. Naar schatting 2.500 sporters komen uit in 19 sporten. Naast het sporten is er een uitgebreid programma met entertainment, afterparties, excursies en andere sociale activiteiten.
Naast de opening en sluiting op de Waalkade toveren we het Mariënburgplein in het centrum van Nijmegen om tot de Village. Een plek waar sporters samenkomen en elkaar kunnen ontmoeten. In de Village komt een podium met uiteenlopende artiesten, foodtrucks bij het terras van Lux en informatiestands.

The EuroGames is the largest sporting event for the LGBTIQ+ community in Europe and on Wednesday evening 27 July the opening ceremony for EuroGames 2022 will take place on the Waalkade in Nijmegen, this year’s host city for EuroGames 2022.
Our flag parade, opening acts, and a few not-too-long speeches will be followed by a stunning array of performing artists, singers, dancers, and musicians. This promises to be a spectacular evening.

We are proud to showcase and welcome on stage the recent Edison winners, Son Mieux. This seven-piece band with lead-singer/songwriter Camiel Meiresonne plays irresistible dance music full of addictive beats, lyrics, and rhythm. The evening offers a contrasting line-up with short performances by the Dutch soprano Deirdre Angenent, and the theatrical star Ellen ten Damme. Pop singer, Merijn van Haren, dancers and poets. The whole dazzling show will close with DJ St. Paul.
The closing ceremony on Saturday evening 30 July will also take place on the Waalkade. This time we will feature the pop and soul singer Julia Zahra and her band. Julia, a winner of The Voice and De Beste Zangers, is recognizable by her characteristic warm voice and acoustic guitar, she performs beautiful ballads, lyrical pop, and rhythmic R’n’B songs. Next up is the trippy electro hip-hop of Fata Boom, this will certainly get everyone dancing. Lastly, we’ll feature a variety of artists singing the best from the history of pop and rock.

The EuroGames will take place in Nijmegen from 27 to 30 July 2022. An estimated 2,500 athletes will compete in 19 sports. In addition to sports, there is an extensive program of entertainment, after-parties, excursions, and other fun activities.
In addition to the opening and closing on the Waalkade, we will transform the Mariënburgplein in the center of Nijmegen into The EuroGames Village. A place where athletes can meet up, hang out, and chill. In the Village, there will be a stage with various artists, and around the Lux’s terrace, there’ll be food trucks and information stands.
