The Heats & Days of Culture

A very good morning to all athletes and volunteers, So, did you enjoy the grand opening last night, we hope so, we thought it was a fantastic evening.

Today, most sports see the start of the heats, hopefully, you didn’t make it too late last night so you’re fit and ready to go today. We wish you the best of luck and lots of support. If you feel like it, the rainbow picnic lunch starts at 12:00hrs in Valkhof Park.

This afternoon our Sports Village is full of life and there’s so much to do there. There are workshops like ‘Rowing without Limits‘, or chill out with a half hour of Yoga (sign up here for Yoga workshop)

Why not  join a class in Voice Liberation (sign up here), or EGLSF is hosting Disrupting the Discourse: LGBTQI women’s experiences in sport and last but not least: there’s a Nipple-Floss class with Naaistreek (sign up here)

You can take part in the Rainbow Route; a tour of the different rainbow spots in our city. Afterwards, you can test your newly acquired knowledge with the Nyma Quiztour. There are lots of wonderful museums (free entry for participants); You can find them all on the map you were given.

If you want to get out of the city, it’s just a 20-minute walk from the train station to the Lentse Warande relax with a long cool drink and watch the rowing competition in the Spiegelwaal.

Today, there’s an abundance of culture: The LUX is located in the Sports Village, where you can catch several LGBTIQ films and the live performance of Edward II The Gay King (click here for tickets).

Don’t forget the many exhibitions, there are some great ones in the church in the middle of the village (check your map for that too)

Would you like to hang out with some amazing women? From 17:00hrs there’ll be pink activities in the Marcus Antonius bar (Tickets). In the LUX you can find FEMtastic meetings. From 21:00hrs, Don’t miss the Lovely Lesbian Laminating in the NDRGRND.

Have fun today!
