Unfortunately, as a result of the measures taken against the Covid-19 virus, the 2020 EuroGames in Düsseldorf have been cancelled.
In consultation with the EGLSF and the organisers of Düsseldorf 2020, Copenhagen 2021 and Nijmegen 2022, various possibilities have been discussed to move editions in order to find the most desirable solution for everyone. Unfortunately this turned out not to be possible. Because of the interests and relations with external stakeholders, there was ultimately no possibility to move editions. The sad conclusion is therefore that the EuroGames of Düsseldorf will not take place at all.
It is extremely annoying for anyone who was looking forward to Düsseldorf 2020. The participants who had registered, the volunteers who were ready to make it a wonderful event, the EGLSF, but above all the organisation of the event! Many years of preparation have gone into the promising concept of Düsseldorf 2020. All this accumulated energy and plans cannot now be put into practice, which is a great pity.
Unfortunately, things are no different in this special year and we are all experiencing the consequences of this nasty virus. This situation only has losers and there is no one else to blame other than the current pandemic.
Our friendly relationship with Düsseldorf and it’s organisation will remain good at all times. We can still learn an awful lot from them and in the years to come we will look often at the plans for Düsseldorf 2020 in order to organise our event in the best possible way, in the interest of the participants.
