Zero Flag project opened!

This morning at 11.00 the Zero Flag Project was opened at the Waalkade in Nijmegen. Chairman of the EuroGames Nijmegen Henk Beerten and alderman Noel Vergunst together unveiled the plague the 71 flags of countries where homosexuality is still punishable.

In an impressive gathering, people reflected on all the many countries where it is still forbidden to be yourself. With words of reflection, it began to rain appropriately hard. Shortly after the opening it dried up again. Very Appropriate in light of all the impressive flags.

The flags will remain on the Waalkade, next to the site for the opening and closing of the EuroGames. The EuroGames are an example of acceptance and inclusion in sports, and visibility of the LGBTQ+ community. With the Zero Flags Project we are showing how life is in other parts of the world. There is a lot of work to be done to achieve a safe, inclusive and tolerant society worldwide.

The project was made possible by Evius, employment lawyers, FT Lawyers, fraud, tax and collection and Wools, Bloemen, Van Schaijk lawyers, in cooperation with Stichting EuroGames 2022 and COC Nijmegen.
