On the last evening, we will finish the sports programme with the running tournament, right before the Closing Ceremony. You may run and test yourself on a 5km or 10km course. Please also view the available maps below.

Saturday 30 July17:00-18:305km, 10km running

Anybody can join for only €10 extra if you already registered. So test yourself on the last evening and run that 5 or 10km!

The route starts at the Lentse Warande, on the north side of the Spiegelwaal. From there the route heads west across the Zaligebrug. When this bridge is taken, the route heads east under two bridges (the Steltsebrug and the Waalbrug) to the so-called Drempel (threshold). This dam across the Spiegelwaal is accessible to cyclists, traffic controllers indicate the walking side. Once at the north side of the Spiegelwaal we head west, with beautiful views of Nijmegen and its bridges the route leads to the finish at the Lentse Warande. Click here for the link of the parcours. The 10K consists of two times this 5K.

Name: Rob Jetten

Being LGBTQI+ on the football field or in athletics is not always easy and that is exactly why the EuroGames are so important. It is a sign that everyone belongs and everyone is allowed to participate. I used to participate quite a lot in sports, but when you hear “homo” or “gay” randomly shouted on the field, then you really don’t feel safe being yourself.

I even associated ‘homo’ with something negative, however, fortunately, there are more and more athletes who are standing up to discrimination. For example, the American NFL player Carl Nassib recently came out and that was very courageous, but it’s also good to be aware that he had to come out of the closet too, and that for so long he didn’t dare. We’ve had great success in the recent past but we still have a long way to go. As a sportsman and as a politician I want to contribute to a Netherlands where everyone can feel free to be themselves.

The official running rules of World Athletics will apply for this running event.
